In my last post, I wrote about how I was misled by the influencers who worked on the #KrisFlyerUOB campaign to believe it was a good account, when it really wasn't.  Now that we've seen how lifestyle influencers are capable of royally screwing up reviews related to financial products, how about brands start giving the sponsored posts to the financial bloggers instead? A few folks have asked for my opinion of the KrisFlyer UOB account, so here it is :  No, I will not be signing up for the KrisFlyer UOB account , simply b ecause the maximum miles per dollar (mpd) I can  realistically  earn is only 1.4. If I were to believe what all the influencers on the #KrisFlyerUOB campaign said, I'd think the account and debit card is a wonderful deal. Except that it is not. Now, here's where it gets interesting. I personally thought it was a terrible product, but apparently all these (realllllllly popular) influencers don't seem to share my views. In fact, they had nothing but praises for it! I'll upload my analysis of the account in a separate post, but that's not why I'm here today. I'm here because I felt the way this whole marketing campaign was executed was just downright misleading, and that's not good. Saw this on the news today and I was thinking to myself that this is too good a deal to miss, and it'll be a crime not to share! A return trip to London typically costs about $1000, so this sounded a little too good to be true and I decided to check it out for myself. Since the flights by Norwegian would only commence in September, I tried looking at the November - December fare calendar as that would be a comfortable period for me to travel. I browsed all the way until March 2018 as they only had available flights until then, and nowhere did I see any $199 fares?!? The cheapest I saw was $232, so I've no idea where the ST journalist saw $199 from. I've gotten a few enquiries from you guys asking how I DIY-ed our trip to Cinque Terre on our honeymoon, and can relate to how some of you might feel uncertain about doing it on your own vs. opting for the tours which can guarantee your safety + not getting lost, but no worries! Getting there and doing your own trip is not only pretty straightforward, it will also save you a ton of money. Seeing how the local tours (in Florence, which was my anchor city for this trip) were charging over 100 euros per person for a tour to Cinque Terre, we decided to DIY our own in order to cut down on costs! In doing so, we managed to spend only 1/3 of what we would have originally spent if we went with the tour group. Here's how we did it: - Purchase a train ticket to La Spezia ( we used trenitalia) .
